The award winning Wild Rose Holiday Park, set in the unspoilt Eden Valley, spans some 50 verdant acres and offers multiple styles of accommodation ranging from luxury self-catering caravans and premium lodges to quirky glamping options. Not surprisingly, with all this on offer, it attracts a vast and diverse number of visitors – often up to 1500 at any one time. And, as it’s open 365 days a year, there’s never a point in time that it’s empty.
“We’ve recently been upgrading our facilities,” explains Jamie McMurrough, the Park’s Project Development Manager. “One of the first, and undoubtedly most important, areas we’ve tackled have been our catering facilities so a brand new kitchen and bar were installed during summer 2022.”
Because guests’ plans can be unpredictable in this type of environment, estimating covers in the restaurant can be difficult and meant that a generous amount of refrigerated storage featured highly on the equipment brief. In fact, to ensure that Wild Rose would be able to function seamlessly, whatever the demand, no less than eleven assorted fridges and freezers were installed.
A large 4 x drawer fridge is located within the main cookline where it’s used to hold burgers at a consistent -2°C, while a further 3 x counter fridges in the kitchen provide valuable extra chilled storage and worktop space. A 3 door fridge with a granite top fitted with a complementary refrigerated toppings rail is utilised as a stand-alone pizza station which, with its sizeable capacity, is
more than sufficient to service the restaurant’s popular pizza menu. Various other fridges are used for cold starters, sandwich preparation and general storage while an undercounter freezer is dedicated solely to storing one very popular menu staple – chips!
Jamie’s delighted with the outcome of the refurbishment as are this summer’s visitors according to their positive reviews.
“The record-breaking temperatures we experienced this season were no issue at all for the new fridges. They performed superbly and held their temperatures throughout. In fact, Aquilo was recommended to us as the brand that would meet our requirements on several key levels. As well as being very well specified, it’s completely eco-friendly, very reasonably priced and also very easy to maintain. Sustainability was particularly important in our decision-making though. We’re in one of the most beautiful and peaceful areas of Britain and we want to do our bit to ensure it stays that way so reducing our environmental impact is a factor in every decision made.”
